The private browser,
in your pocket.
The same idea as the Mac app — search without an account, without logs and without a feed algorithm — rebuilt native for iPhone. Private results, an on-device AI Overview built on Apple Intelligence, an app-wide Private Mode that wipes itself on exit, and a live news feed that lives in memory only. It's free, it's in public beta on TestFlight, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Free · iOS 26 · TestFlight · App Store release coming
Same private search. Different machine.
On a Mac, Searxly runs a whole SearXNG instance on your own machine. A phone can't — iOS doesn't let an app keep a server running in the background — so Searxly for iPhone talks to Searxly's hosted private instance instead. It aggregates many engines, de-duplicates and ranks the results, and runs with query logging disabled. There's no account, so there is nothing to tie a search to.
- ✓Results aggregated from many engines, ranked for you — no ads in the results
- ✓No account and no identifier: a query can't be attributed to you
- ✓Search scopes for news, images and video, made for your thumb
Small screen. Full conviction.
Not a port — a native SwiftUI app built around what a phone is actually for: fast answers, news on the move, and browsing that leaves nothing behind.
AI Overview, on-device
Apple Intelligence writes a grounded answer from your top eight results, with tappable [n] citations back to every source. The model runs on the iPhone — your question is never sent to an AI company.
Private Mode
One tap turns the whole app private — an indigo space with no history, no cookies and no news feed. Leaving it wipes the private tabs and their data, as if it never happened.
Live news, no algorithm
A news feed assembled by your search instance and ranked by recency — LIVE and BREAKING flagged as it happens. Kept in memory only, never saved, never personalized.
Shields on by default
Ad and tracker blocking with major filter lists, tracking-parameter stripping and fingerprint scrambling — the safe choice is the default, not a setting to hunt for.
Feels like iOS
Quick Actions from the Home Screen, Spotlight search, Handoff to your Mac, Siri Shortcuts and Dynamic Type. A privacy cover hides the app's content in the app switcher.
Nothing kept, nothing sent
No account, no telemetry, no analytics. What you search and read on the phone stays on the phone — there's no Searxly account server for it to go to.
Named, not hand-waved.
What the iPhone app is — and isn't.
The Mac app's whole argument is that search runs on your machine. A phone can't make that promise, so we won't pretend it does: on iPhone, your searches exit through an instance we run. That's a trust relationship with us — stated plainly, like the rest of the trust model.
- ✓Install TestFlight from the App Store
- ✓Open the invite link below on your iPhone
- ✓Install Searxly and pull down to search
- ✓It blocks ads and trackers, scrambles your fingerprint, and keeps no history you didn't ask for.
- ✓Its AI runs on the device — the overview is written by Apple Intelligence, not by a cloud API.
- ✓It takes no account and ships no telemetry — the beta is free and anonymous.
- ✕Search isn't on-device here — it goes through Searxly's hosted instance. On the Mac, the instance is yours; on iPhone, you're trusting ours.
- ✕No wallet, no VPN, no Tor on iPhone yet — the first release is deliberately a lean, private browser.
- ✕It's a beta — expect rough edges, and tell us about them via TestFlight feedback or support.searxly.app.
Private search, wherever you are.
The Mac at your desk, the iPhone in your pocket — the same refusal to keep logs, sell ads or ask who you are.
